Carolyn Brakey for Geauga County Commissioner

Carolyn Brakey is running for Geauga County Commissioner to defend the freedoms and paychecks of Geauga residents.

An accomplished business attorney (with a background in mechanical engineering and in-depth knowledge of legal issues related to energy), Carolyn has made her career advancing Ohio’s job-creating industries and standing up to protect consumers.

Carolyn even helped lower energy costs for Geauga County businesses by clawing back unfair charges from energy companies. She was honored by Crain’s Cleveland Business as a Notable General Counsel (2021) and as a member of the Forty Under 40 class (2015).

In addition to running her own law practice and serving as General Counsel to Brakey Energy, Carolyn has served on the Geauga County Board of Health since 2022.

Defending parental rights, Carolyn led the charge to repeal mask mandates on school children —  authoring the health district’s COVID-19 guidance for schools, which set off a domino effect for liberty, becoming a model for counties across Ohio.

Cutting wasteful spending, Carolyn eliminated duplicative bureaucracy at the Board of Health, which saved over a half million dollars in annual savings for taxpayers without any reduction in services.

With Columbus bureaucrats ordering property revaluations, resulting in a $9.6 million property tax hike on Geauga residents (at a time when inflation is already stretching families to their limits), Carolyn is leading the defense of taxpayers.

Mobilizing thousands of Geauga residents to petition their elected officials for tax relief, Carolyn is already delivering results with many tax jurisdictions — including the county, municipalities, and a school district — responding and taking action to offset the increased tax revenues to by decreaseing other taxes to local property owners.

A vote to elect Carolyn Brakey as our next Geauga County Commissioner is a vote to defend our freedoms and paychecks from dysfunctional government.
